Running at a secret test at the Bonneville Salt Flats, the one-off prototype, using a tweaked version of Jaguar's new supercharged 5.0-litre V8, topped even the legendary XJ220's 217mph top speed. Not a chance.
MINI JCW & Cooper S recalled
Following on from the US MINI Recall, MINI UK is to recall 29,000 MINI Cooper S and MINI JCW models to fix a faulty circuit board. Yesterday we reported that MINI in the US is to recall 89,000 MINI Coopers to fix a faulty circuit board on the turbo’s auxiliary water pump, and we now learn the recall will be worldwide – although is DOESN’T include the MINI Cooper. It seems the US authorities got it all in a bit of a muddle and included the MINI Cooper in the recall announcement, even though it doesn’t have a turbo and the recall relates to a potentially faulty circuit board on the auxiliary water pumps that cool the turbos.
British Car Auctions (BCA) is offering one very specially specified MINI Cooper S John Cooper Works. The car is set to go under the hammer on Wednesday 15 August at BCA's Blackbushe auction centre. This MINI actually boasts nearly every factory option originally available for the car and cost over £30,000 when it was built back in 2011 – from customised exterior and interior parts, engine and chassis upgrades and in-car gadgets, this MINI is full to bursting with options.
